Crux Easton

Crux Easton is really only a hamlet, but it has a long history. There are traces of Roman occupation and a thousand years of written history. In more recent times, Geoffrey de Havilland  tested some early aircraft in the village!

The Wind Engine was built in 1891 and is probably the only surviver of its type. It was originally used to grind corn and to pump water from its 450 ft well. There are open days once a month in the summer - 12 June, 10 July, 14 August, 11 September 2005.

There was a church recorded in the Domesday Book but the present one was built in 1775 and restored in 1894 and 1993.
