Parish Council
· Recycle Pavilion - In a recent discussion with Torridge District Council they stated that they will no longer repair a recycle pavilion unless it is in a dangerous condition and it is their intention to remove them all once the ?Green Box and Bag? collections are available to everyone. In the meantime the parish council is responsible for the cost of maintenance to a safe standard and to avoid this financial burden it could request removal of the pavilion in the near future. Any parishioner with a strong objection to this should contact the Parish Clerk in writing at Dove Cottage, Bond Street.
· Household without the ?Green Box and Bag? service should contact South Molton Recycling on 01769573081or James on 108.

· Referendum/Parish Poll ? The council had stated that it would hold a parish poll to determine whether the parish should support the request for assistance for maintenance of Beaford Arts Doorstep Green Project. In ascertaining the procedure for holding a poll the clerk has found that the cost to the parish would be in excess of £700. To comply with the legal requirements written requests from ten parishioners will need to be made to the council and should be sent to the clerk, Dove Cottage, Bond Street.
Village Green Association
The village green and play area are the envy of many neighbouring villages but it seems the facility is wasted on a few vandals who have chosen to wreck, probably beyond repair, a large section of the willow feature. Parents and peer groups please be aware of this vandalism and help prevent further violation of parish property and stop this antisocial behaviour.

ORINOCO ! A river? The line of a popular song? A Wimbledon Womble? For most of us the Orinoco is a dim mystery. Will anyone anytime give us similar mysteries for the Beaford Brook? Have you read any of the Devon thrillers by Michael Jukes? Beaford has not featured yet to my knowledge but is there a local would-be-author who will base a book on the Brook? It has mystery in places but its main claims to notice are its placidity, its occasional fury, its inhabitants and its beautiful course. Sturdy stone bridges cross it from time to time - well worth a stroll sometime. Incidentally, the Orinoco is a wide, wide South American river with a high sweep of bridge (reminiscent of the new Bideford Bridge) under which nestles a brightly coloured toy-town Dutch settlement and some modern villas before all disappears upriver into impenetrable mangrove swamps and rainforest. Perfect for mystery.
