Neighbourhood WatchA police message received earlier in the month was as follows: As part of our ongoing crime prevention measures, our researchers have been looking at Burglary Statistics and offer the following advice. Occupied properties are more likely to be burgled overnight or at weekends. Unoccupied properties are most likely to be burgled in the afternoon or early evening. Fifty percent of burglaries are via insecure doors or windows. No day of the week shows up in the statistics more than any other. The most important crime prevention advice is: to fit good door and window locks and use them even when the property is occupied. Do not leave keys in view or within reach from outside the property and never under doormats or plant-pots. Always be suspicious of all unexpected callers. Please look after elderly neighbours. Spread the word about Neighbourhood Watch. If you have a contribution you wish to make to the Bugle, whether it is information concerning an event, a personal message, or maybe a literary contribution please don't hesitate, call me.
