Burnside Community Council

Aims of Burnside Community Council

In Scotland community councils are voluntary bodies established by statute.  They are charged with a responsibility

  • to inform public bodies, and especially local authorities, of the views of the community they represent in relation to any matters impacting on the area,
  • to take such action in the interest of the community as appears necessary,
  • to be apolitical.

Some examples of matters that are considered include planning applications (community councils are statutory consultees), local services provision, environmental issues, transport, roads and crime.  To see what has recently been considered click on the "Local Council" button above.
