With seven schools within walking distance, the River Deadwater and its surrounding woodland provides an ideal setting for a whole range of environmental studies. Already, a close working relationship exists between the Deadwater Vallet Trust and these local schools. The Countryside Ranger can now offer a range of walks and activities which have been developed for a wider audience. If you feel a visit would satisfy your curriculum needs, please ring the Trust office to arrange a visit. Currently no charges are being made, but this situation is under constant review.
The Deadwater Valley
The Deadwater Valley lies within the boundary of the East Hampshire town, Whitehill. It follows a 1.6 km stretch of the River Deadwater through a variety of woodland habitats which include Knox's Pond and the Walldown Ancient Monument. There are no built faci;ities on site, but the area is served by a car park that lies off Conde Way. There is a height restriction barrier at the entrance, so visiting coaches have to set down at the road side. The whole area is within three-quarters of a kilometer of the Whitehill Town Centre.
