The village of Dedham is situated on the River Stour in north-east Essex, England. It lies in the heart of Dedham Vale, an area designated as being of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and immortalised in many of the paintings by John Constable RA, one of Britain's best known artists. It is one mile from the A12 trunk road, and four miles from Manningtree Station, which enjoys a 65-minute train service to London, Liverpool Street. The village possesses a wealth of interesting architecture, and many of the buildings date back some 500 years to the height of the wool trade, on which the prosperity of the village was founded.
