Minutes of Drum Brae Community Council Meeting held on Monday 8th December 2008 in the Rannoch Community Centre. Present: H Hall, J Bain, R Blanch, O Durie, K Reilly, S Frost, M Nelson, K Wright, J Herschell, T Conway. In Attendance: PC J Whelan, Cllr C Keir, Cllr R Aldridge, B Scholes, Cramond Community Council, J Conner Partnership Development Officer Edinburgh West Neighbourhood Team. Apologies: R Kingman, C Day, G Dott, Cllr J Dawe. A total of 12 members of the public were in attendance. MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING The minutes were approved by K Wright and seconded by J Herschell. Holden Hall welcomed everyone as acting Chairman and started by welcoming J Conner from the city council who is going to speak about what his job entails, at which the Chairman then handed the meeting over to PC J Whelan to give the crime report. East Craigs had 55 crimes of which 15 were solved, Corstorphine had 17 crimes of which 5 were solved and Clermiston/Drum Brae had 27 crimes of which 3 were solved. Crimes of interest this month were Theft of a motor car, fire raising through letterbox, stone throwing at cars, A man has been charged under the Wildlife and Countryside act of harming a crow, Several sheds have been broken in to and as an added protection alarms are available from the police for sheds, a couple of break ins have occurred at houses early in the morning in which £6000 worth of jewellery was stolen from one house while the occupants were in. Corstorphine Police are starting up a scheme in the area called "COLD CALLING CONTROL ZONE" to deter rogue traders, more information will be available about this at the beginning of next year,The meeting was then opened up to any questions. Several questions were asked ranging from a bin being set on fire at the leisure centre, Gang problems in the area and graffiti on bus shelters etc. The Chairman then welcomed J Conner to talk about his job, he talked for a few minutes on what his remit was at which the Chairman thanked him for coming. CHAIRMANS REPORT The Chairman started by referring to the minutes on the subject of Clermiston Park at which he asked K Wright to explain. He began by outlining the progress of registering friends of Clermiston Park and also stated that he is awaiting information on the present lets for football etc that are on the park, he then finished by explaining that after the friends of clermiston park has been properly set up the next stage would be to set up the friends of drum brae park with the help of G Dott, The Chairman then stated that he had nothing to report. SECRETARYS REPORT 1. City of Edinburgh Application on 565 Queensferry Road withdrawn. 2. City of Edinburgh Application on 527 Queensferry Road granted granted with conditions. 3. TREASURERS REPORT Money in Bank = £760.70p A letter of thanks was read out from Clermiston Primary School about the Donation we gave, and several cook books that were produced by the school were for sale at £5 each to help raise funds for the hall floor renewal. A.O.L. J Herschel thanked Cllr C Keir for helping get Drum Brae Crescent resurfaced. Several other questions were asked and answered. The next meeting of the Neighbourhood Partnership is 11th February at 6.30pm in East Craigs, a venue has still to be arranged. The Chairman closed the meeting and asked everyone to join in the small food and drinks buffet that has been arranged to thank everyone. The date of the next meeting will be on Monday 12th January 2009 at 7.30pm in the Rannoch Community Centre.
