DYFFRYN CLYDACH COMMUNITY

 CAROL EVENING

Wednesday, December 12th- 6.30 for 7pm 

The community council warmly invites you to join us for and evening of carols and reading in this Christmas season.

We will be joined by the Salvation Army Band and Songsters, school children and Mr.Gerald Pollard.

Admission is free to everyone and there will be mince pies and hot drinks for all.

Senior Memorial Hall users are invited to join the Community Council in their Annual Party which will take place in the Hall  at   2pm, Saturday ,January 5th 2008.

 To bring in the New Year,  there will be a delicious buffet lunch and great   entertainment for all with a few houses of bingo. This is all provided free of charge so come along and meet old friends and make new friends.

Our Christmas Fayre will be held in the Memorial Hall between 6 and 7pm. Come along and get yourself some bargain Christmas gifts .

The Fayre will be followed by Charity Prize Bingo which is always fun and raises money for good causes. Free tea, squash and biscuits for all.

CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY!

2pm til 4.30pm -so don't be late.

Come along to the Memorial Hall on Saturday, December 15th and have a lot of fun.

Dress funky or fancy and dance to our disco with party games.

Free drinks and hot dogs for children and free selection boxes for each child.

Dyffryn Clydach Community Council- proudly invites you to the unveiling ceremony of the Dyffryn Clydach Memorial Plaque. Monday 22nd October, 3.00pm.

On standing down as Chair of the community council 2006/7 it was the wish of Cllr. Harry Thomas that his expenses were used to provide a plaque in memory of the fallen of Dyffryn Clydach who gave their lives for their country.

The plaque has been commissioned and will be unveiled in the ceremony which is open to all.

Father Mark of St. John's Church will dedicate the plaque with the support of the community councillors, Bryncoch Male Voice Choir, historian Robert King and many other community members. There will be refreshments served after the service.  

Please make every effort to attend this historic occasion in our community.

THE BABY PACKED LUNCH.

Takes place in the Memorial Hall between 1 and 3pm on Thursday October 18th.

This fund raising lunch is held by the Helping Hands Knitters who are shipping out packs of baby clothing to desperate mothers in South Africa.

Everyone is welcome to attend and there will be good food and entertainment on the theme of what else but 'Mothers and Babies'

Ticket price £5.  See you there.

Traherne Court Residents Association Summer News.

Saturday July 21st, Summer Fete at Traherne Court.

Starts 1pm with Tombola, Raffle, Cakes and Bric a Brac.

Traherne Court has a few seats available on the coach  for just £10 each. Admission to Caves is extra. The bus will leave Traherne Court at 9.30am.  Ring Tom on the above number then come along and join us!

SUMMER COMMUNITY EVENTS

The council is running its next community events during Community Celebration Week beginning on July 2nd  with an Open Bowls Session at 10.00am at the Memorial Hall.

At 2.00pm - 4-30pm we have Dyffryn Clydach's first community Tea Dance at the hall. Brian from Cwmgrach Dancing Club will be providing the music for a wide range of tastes from sequence to line dance with the odd tango thrown in. You can also enjoy a demonstration of SALSA as you  take a breather. £2.50 admission will include a delicious afternoon tea.  A Blue Light Disco has had to be postponed until later in the year so watch this space.

 The Community Quiz on July 5th commencing at 7pm at the Smiths Arms and  promises to be a real challenge with many community groups taking part. If you would like to enter as a team or if you are an individual who would like to form a team with others then please contact us. We now have two very generous sponsors on board so this will be a big money competition! £100 1st prize, £60 2nd prize and £40 3rd prize.

Charity Prize Bingo Friday 6th July commences 7.00pm

If you've never been before then come along for an evening of fun and surprises.  Finishes 8.30pm 

Events for all age groups will continue with our Family Fun Day on Saturday July 7th. We hope this will be bigger and better than ever with a lOOPY LEW'S children's entertainer with magic show, plate spinning workshop and balloon modelling, band, barbecue and a range of charity stalls.

ATTRACTIONS ARE STILL BEING BOOKED FOR THIS SO PLEASE VISIT US A LITTLE LATER FOR AN UPDATE. OSPREYS ARE LOOKING VERY LIKELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 A Historic Walk is being planned for Sunday 8th July culminating in an informal drink. We are very pleased that local historian Robert King will be leading this walk through the beautiful Cwm. Walkers are asked to meet at Ty Mawr, home of Tregelles Price opposite the Pelican crossing at Neath Abbey. Time will be posted as soon as we finalise this.

  If you are interested in taking part in any event, volunteering during the week or maybe taking a stall in the Family Day for your charity we would be delighted to hear from you.

Neath Abbey Infants School is holding its Summer Fayre on Wednesday June 27th up at the Early Years Unit on Heol Penlan. It will start at 4.00pm so don't be late. It is always lots of fun and there will be plenty of bargains too.
