Issue No 2 | EAST STOKE UPDATE | October 2004 |
Welcome to East Stoke Update and the second issue of the News Letter from the Community Plan Steering Committee.
We were very pleased with the response we received from the Questionnaire, thank you to everyone who took the time to answer and return this, and to anyone who has not yet completed the form it is still not too late! You can call us on 01929 462623 and we will collect them from you or you can pass to any of the Parish Councillors/Steering Committee members.
The information that was received has given us an indication as to what the people of the community are looking for, and your comments have been noted. We were also pleased that some people wrote letters and expanded their comments. The intention is that they will be considered and dealt with within the working groups. Within these working groups we are looking for people to help, so if you are interested in joining any of the working groups please contact the following people:
Heritage & Historical - Sara Grayson - 463207
Environmental - Pete & Sue Burden - 551806
Social & Infrastructure - Maureen Quinn - 462623 or Janet Lickiss - 405983
We are still analysing the results but a key issue raised by a large majority of the people who responded that they believe there is still a need for a Village Hall. There were lots of suggestions for activities that they would like to see there. The majority of you also said they would help support community activities.
The stalwart ladies who have over many years formed the committee for the Hall have now decided to stand down which means we are now looking to form a new committee. We shall therefore be approaching those who have volunteered to help very soon. We wish to thank the committee for all the hard work and time they have devoted to keep the Hall running for over 25 years with often not a lot of public recognition.
We are having an Open Day on Saturday and Sunday, 6 and 7 November 2004 from 10.00 to 15.00 this will give you an opportunity to come along to the Village Hall and see some of the work being done by the Working Groups on the Community Plan. Why not take a little time out of your busy days to find out just what we are trying to achieve. The Open Day involves villagers of all ages, from the very young to the old, refreshments will be served and we shall be pleased to answer any questions you may have.
As some respondents were unsure of where the Parish boundaries were PDC have kindly provided a map, which is shown overleaf. So you can see for example that the Farm Shop is within East Stoke Parish.
The winner of the bottle of Whiskey from our draw is Mr & Mrs Jupp
