Latest Match Report: BCN Masters Vs Romsey Old Boys Sunday 2nd September The build up to the game was a little awkward for both teams. BCN were struggling to get enough players for the game and Romsey Old Boys' Tom Dodds's car broke down on the way to the ground. This wouldn't normally be an issue, however on this occasion Doddsey had the kit. Due to these delays the kick off was put back to 10:15. BCN masters started the game with 8 players as they were still awaiting the arrival of 2 other players. The Romsey Old Boys line up was as follows: Goalkeeper - N. Poole Right Back - J. Newman Centre Back - P. Blencowe Centre Back - C. Davis Left Back - M. Scoones Right Midfield - J. Bascombe Centre Midfield - T. Dodds Centre Midfield - T. Grimshaw Left Midfield - D. House Striker - S. Grant Striker - K. Jacobs Subs: K. Wood S. Wood Romsey Old Boys started the game with a lot of possession; however they failed to create to many chances with several of the players' first touches letting them down. The passing started off carelessly but improved as time progressed. After 10 minutes of the first half BCN were up to 10 players with the score at 0:0. It took 30 minutes before Romsey Old Boys managed to break BCN down with a great move. T. Dodds took up position in the middle of the park and he spread the play out to the left to D. House who went past his man and drove towards the left side of the penalty area. He had the vision to look up and cross the ball across the face of goal avoiding the keeper to find S. Grant at the back post for a simple tap in from 5 yards. BCN were playing a long ball game and were causing problems as their strikers were managing to hold the ball up well. They broke down the left hand side and managed to equalise just before half time. Half Time - 1:1 Romsey Old Boys made 2 changes at half time with J. Newman making way for K. Wood to come on at left back, with M. Scoones switching to Right Back and K. Jacobs making way for S. Wood to make his debut for Romsey Old Boys at 17 years old. As the game went on BCN were tiring, however their central midfielder was doing well to keep possession when he received it to relieve the pressure off of their defence. He was also doing well to break up the Romsey attacks. However this only lasted for about 10 minutes when the ball broke through the middle for S. Grant to slot his second of the game in past the advancing keeper to make it 2:1 to Romsey. 5 minutes later is was 3:1 with D. House receiving the ball in the box and then chipped it over his shoulder to deceive the BCN defender, giving D. House a free shot at goal which he took calmly. Romsey looked to finish off a tiring BCN however this left Romsey open at the back and allowed BCN to have some possession in the Romsey half causing several corners and chances, however BCN were unable to capitalise on this possession. Romsey finished the game off with a goal from T. Grimshaw on the counter attack to make it 4:1 to Romsey. The game was all but over, but Romsey kept pushing for the 5th. BCN held out after several Romsey chances in the last 10 minutes, however the game finished 4:1 to Romsey giving them their first victory of the season.
