M8's - Asperger's and Autism

This is a club run by Yvonne Daly, and in her own words.....

I run a club for school age children with Asperger's Syndrome and Autism.  We are now in to our 3rd year and have just moved into the Caledonia Centre in Baillieston.  We meet on a Tuesday evening from 7 - 9pm and offer a range of sports activities.  We have just received funding to put in place a programme for the parents too.  Children with an autistic spectrum disorder find it difficult to socialise and our club for many is their only out of school club they attend. We now attract children from as far as Drumchapel, Castlemilk etc as well as local children from surrounding areas.  ( I live in Mount Vernon).

We get referrals from social work as well as word of mouth and in the near future we hope to advertise more widely through the media and mailshots etc.
