Parish Council Job Descriptions
The Parish Council is elected to represent the interests of the Parish of Graffham, Selham and South Ambersham in local, district and county matters.
- We regularly examine planning applications, making recommendations thereon and monitoring development of approved applications. Planning can range from a small house extension or tree lopping to the designation of a new National Park or local mineral extraction.
- We attend Forum meetings to keep abreast of wider issues - these include -
Local Development Framework Chichester Local Committee - county council matters Northwest Frontier - Overall planning north of downs Pathwatch Police Forum National Park South Downs Access Forum Mineral extraction meetings - gravel land sand quarrying SALC Environmental Forums
- The Council is also responsible on a more local level for -
Katherine Maud Guillod Trust
The PC holds the lease on Sports field and playground and as lessees, are responsible for overall insurance.
The PC has 3 representatives on the Recreation Ground Committee and one representative on the Empire Hall committee
Reporting to Highways authority problems with ‘pot holes', surface water clearance of verges and monitoring progress of repairs Inform the appropriate authority any ‘rights of way' issues.

Grass cutting at war memorial, surrounding the Church and at Pound corner - part of this area with cut with the landowner's permission
Report to South Downs Joint committee any problems with footpaths, bridlepaths etc.
