Personal
I have lived in the Whittle Hall ward since 1987, following my marriage to Sue. My children, Emily, Matthew and Abigail have all attended Westbrook Old Hall School. Abigail (10) is enjoying her last year at Old Hall, Matthew (14) is studying hard towards his GCSE examinations at Penketh High School, and Emily is taking A levels at Priestly College and will be at University next year.

In my spare time, I enjoy skiing; I am the treasurer of a successful racing club at Ski Rossendale. I am a member of the National Trust and enjoy visiting historic houses.  I am also a Rugby League supporter and have not missed a Challenge Cup Final since 1984. I have been lucky enough to be able to enjoy ski holidays in France, Italy and Austria for the last 14 years and I also look forward to an annual holiday in Devon, where I particularly enjoy body boarding and hope to learn to surf this year.

Employment
I was employed by HSBC from 1979 until August 2007, in the last decade as a Financial Planning Manager selling mortgages, protection products, pensions and investments. I hold CEFA and CMAP qualifications along with being an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.

I am also a qualified Ski Instructor, currently working at Ski Rossendale. I hold both a Club Instructor qualification but added a BASI 1 qualification in September. I have applied for work at the new Chill Factore which opens in November 2007. I am CRB checked and have completed a child protection module.

Politics
I was elected to Great Sankey Parish Council in 2004. I have been a member of the Finance Committee, and was honoured to Chair the Council in 2006. I was also Chair of the Employment Group in 2007-08 and still serve on the committee. I am very keen to engage young people in political activities and have run two successful "shadow Parish Council events" involving local school pupils.
