Vandalism/Anti-Social Behaviour

Vandalism & Anti-Social Behaviour in the Parish

Are you aware of the amount of vandalism and anti-social behaviour that goes on in the Parish?
Are you aware of the time and money the Parish Council spends on repairing damage done to it's property?

This is an ongoing battle and you can help.

HOW YOU CAN HELP US

PLEASE report any incidents that you see to the Police (for non-emergency calls, 0845 4580000; for Crimestoppers 0800 555 111). We know that this can be a lengthy and tedious thing to do, but the more reports the Police have of problems in an area, the more they are able to target resources to it.

We report all incidences of vandalism, we are asking you to do the same. Don't assume someone else has already done it. If the Police don't know about it, they can't do anything about it.

HELP US TO HELP YOU IMPROVE YOUR AREA

If you have any suggestions or ideas to deal with any of the problems that you come across, please get in touch with the Council via the Parish Clerk, Whittle Hall Community Centre, Lonsdale Close, Great Sankey, Warrington, WA5 3UA, tel:01925 712279.  Alternatively, the Police regularly run Community Action Meetings (CAM) in our community centres. Everyone is welcome to go along and find out what the Police are doing in their area and to inform them of any incidents or issues in the community. See the diary on this website, or Parish noticeboards for details.

What the Parish Council is doing

At Hood Manor Centre the Parish Council liaised with the Police to have a CCTV camera installed. Since then, things seem to have improved a little and the Parish Council is hoping to have a camera installed at the Tim Parry Centre to combat the anti-social behaviour and vandalism in that area.

The Council has campaigned over the last two years to have the Tim Parry recreation ground used as a pilot for a "designated alcohol free zone". Unfortunately, Cllr Liz Smith has recently been told that the scheme has been put on hold. Apparently the police have had so many requests from different areas to do this that they don't have enough resource to meet all the demand. Discussions are continuing on how to progress this issue.

The Tim Parry playground and recreation field are checked and cleaned first thing every morning by a Parish Council employee. The broken glass is removed so that people and their pets can walk safely through the area, and the play equipment is inspected for any vandalism. Damaged equipment is repaired as soon as possible, usually on the same day.

The Parish Council keeps a record of all acts of vandalism and reports them to the Police. Listed below are just some of the most recent, and what we have done to put them right.
