| Last Update: 22/03/2005 19:18:22 Burstow primary school has attached numerous posters to their fence adjacent to the pavement in wheelers lane. They ask drivers not to park vehicles on the yellow zig zag lines during school hours and in particular at drop off and pick up times. These lines are there for a specific reason for all of our children?s safety. All children must be able to enter and leave the school safely and vehicles parked in this area will cause an unnecessary obstruction, restricting the view and causing an obvious crossing hazard. Another important reason for these lines is to allow access for emergency vehicles. Unfortunately I am still seeing vehicles parking on these lines, there is no reasonable excuse, and I will and have been using available powers as a police officer to deal with these motorist who seem to think they have a right to park on them, Showing a total disregard for everybody else?s children safty. You will be pleased to hear that your village has a new Police community Support Officer, she is PCSO Julie Watson. Julie starts with us on Monday 21st March. PCSO Watson is based at Lingfield office and will cover the Lingfield area as well as the Smallfield area. I am still appealing for your help and asking for information concerning the spate of damages to windows in Smallfield. Please, it is vital all similar incidents are reported to police. Although you may feel there is no point as either there was not significant damage or you didn?t see the offenders but we need to know when and where these incidents take place in order to build up the bigger picture and target resources. Please help us to help you. The next Neighbourhood Panel meeting is to be held at 7:30pm on Wednesday 27th April at Centenary Hall in Smallfield. This meeting is for Outwood, Horne, Burstow and Copthorne Bank as well as Smallfield residents. Hopefully see you there. Regards Paul PC Paul Baker - Smallfield |
