HURSLEY PARISH COUNCIL

The civil parish of Hursley is situated to the south west of Winchester in Hampshire, (see Map) and is part of Winchester City Council's administrative area.

Ampfield Parish, part of Test Valley District, adjoins to the west, and Chandler's Ford, part of Eastleigh Borough, to the south.

The parish, famous for both its connections with Richard Cromwell and John Keble (of Keble College, Oxford fame), is centred on the  historic downland village of Hursley, which lies roughly mid-way between Winchester and Romsey on the A3090. Sometimes known as "The Village of Chimneys" because of the tall highly decorated rubbed brick chimneys, which decorate many of the older buildings, the village is home to IBM (UK) Laboratories, who occupy Hursley Park, the "Big House" of the village.

 Parish Council Constitution and Meetings

The Council consists of nine members who are elected every four years (most recently in May 2007). It meets on the second Monday of May, and each alternate month thereafter, usually at 8.00 p.m. Meetings are usually held in the Parish Hall in the centre of the village (but during the Hall redevelopment works in the Masonic Hall) and the public is welcome to attend. The minutes since November 1997 are published on this web site.
