Kessingland Parish Council  May 07

At the Annual Parish Council meeting in May, Liam Martin was elected as Chairman with Jean Purkis as Vice Chairman. Brian Sinfield was elected as the Planning Chairman. There were 2 resignations from existing councillors and these vacancies will now be advertised.

The Council adopted the new Model Code of Conduct 2007.

The police reported that there had been 34 reported crimes in the village in April, of which 9 were thefts including one at the Primary School, and 4 were criminal damage. There were no reports from WDC.

With fewer councillors, it has become difficult to man all the councillor surgeries at present. Council agreed that these would be reduced to one per month on a Saturday morning. Dates will be advertised around the village.

A planning application will be submitted in due course for lighting at the MUGA. It was agreed that the lighting would cease at 9.30pm.

It was resolved that the 4 Towns Bus could come to the village on a monthly basis and highlight various health issues. The PCT would be represented on the bus and the subjects covered will be different each month.

The Kessingland Flag day will be on 14th June at 10.30am. The school has been invited to join in as usual.

Benacre Estates had provided Council with a copy of a consultation that they had commissioned re the proposed wind turbines.

A letter from the allotment holders at St Edmunds Crescent concerning the fencing, was considered by Council and quotes for the work will be obtained.

3 Councillor vacancies were considered for co-option, and Mr Crossland, Mr Burden and Mr Brown were duly appointed as councillors.
