Parish Council Newsletter May 2007
MAY 2007 ISSUE NO. 17 KESSINGLAND PARISH COUNCIL NEWSLETTER CHAIRMANS COMMENTS It is with regret that I report the resignation of two of our Parish Councillors, Cllr Peter Bailey and Cllr Tracey Mason. Both have had to give up their commitment to the Parish Council to spend more time with their families. Peter has a job in the NHS which is becoming more time consuming and Tracey has recently joined the Suffolk Constabulary as a Community Service Officer stationed at Southwold. Both worked hard in the Community and will be sadly missed. On the plus side there has been the Co-Option of three new Parish Councillors, they are Mr. Les Crossland and Mr. Barry Burden, both of whom live at Heritage Green and Mr Brian Brown who lives at Fellowship Green. These 3 new councilors will be taking up their positions on the Council at the meeting on the 23rd May PARISH COUNCIL SURGERIES. The Parish Council Surgery dates have been revised. In future starting on Saturday 9th June 2007 , Surgeries will only be held ONCE a month and the dates till the end of the year are:- 7th July - 8th September - 6th October - 10th November and 9th December. New Posters will be put up around the village and the Parish Council would encourage residents to use them as a means of communicating their views to the Council
VERY SHELTERED HOUSING/LIBRARY/COMMUNITY PROJECT - HALL ROAD. This project is still on target to start building at the end of 2007/beginning of 2008. On Tuesday 17th July 2007 at St.Edmunds Parish Church Hall, there will be an exhibition illustrating the building , facilities and landscaping. It will be open from 3pm to 7pm and all the residents of Kessingland are invited to come and look at the proposals and discuss the issues with members of the partnership, which are Kessingland Parish Council, Suffolk County Council, Waveney District Council and Flagship Housing Group. There will be more information available nearer to the date which will be circulated to every household in the village. MULTI-USE GAMES AREA AT THE COMMUNITY CENTRE-FRANCIS ROAD When the above facility was constructed it was always the intention to get floodlights installed so that it could be used all the year round. Funding has now been secured and subject to Planning Permission being granted by Waveney District Council, the floodlighting should be in place by the end of the summer CITIZENS ADVICE BUREAU - USE IT OR LOSE IT. Citizens Advice Bureau have stated that their one -stop shop which takes place on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month is in danger of closing if it is not supported from the Community. The Parish Council would encourage the Community to use this very worthwhile facility, it took a long time to get them to come into the village, don't let it be lost through a lack of support. There will be new posters going up around the village in the next week or two. Remember it was the wish of the Community in the Parish Plan consultatation that this organisation be encouraged to come into the village.
