LANGTREE REUNITES NETBALL CLUB
Langtree Reunites Netball Club is now a well-established Netball Club offering Torridge's only mixed High 5, junior and senior Club. The Club was set up almost 10 years ago as a village team, but now caters for the whole of the Torrington, Holsworthy and Bideford areas. The Club now boasts three senior teams, two junior teams and a High 5 section with a total membership of 70.
The three senior teams compete in the North Devon Netball League (both winter and summer Leagues), with two teams currently in the third division and the other team in the fourth division. Our senior players range from 14 years old to 40 plus and many have gone on to successfully take umpiring and coaching qualifications; therefore maintaining our excellent coaching and umpiring team consisting of one senior club coach at level 2 and 12 level 1 coaches, 2 County Award Umpires and 6 Beginner Award Umpires.
The two junior teams currently compete in the North Devon Junior League and have proved very successful over the years, with the U13 and U15 teams either winning their respective leagues or coming runners up, each year since the league was formed! Players can join the club at year 4 and then progress up through the club, again benefiting from our large coaching and umpiring teams.
More recently the Club has introduced a new High 5 section for primary school aged pupils, this has already proved very successful, with the Club fielding two teams at each league fixture and winning all of their games so far this season.
The Club's aim is to provide opportunities for everyone, regardless of ability. All players are welcomed enthusiastically into the Club whether they play for county or school teams, enjoy the sport in their PE lessons, or if they haven't picked up a ball in years! We believe everyone has something to give and equally we believe we can offer something to everyone, whether it's the chance to improve a players skills, get fit, meet and make new friends or coaching and umpiring opportunities.
All coaches working with young people are police checked and have attended good practice and child protection courses, the Club also holds the Silver Award for the ENGLAND NETBALL Caps Scheme, Club Sports Mark from Sport England and highly commended in the volunteers investment programme (VIP)
