         ALLOTMENT AND CEMETERY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

 

Minutes of the meeting held on Wednesday  16th  February 2005 at 7.30pm in the Council Chambers

 

1.      Present ? Cllr?s E.Gibbs(Chair),  O.White, J. Newman

                      Club members ?

                   Apologies  received  - Cllr. R,Bale

 

2.      Previous minutes read and proposed by Cllr Gibbs, and after amendment of time seconded Cllr. White.

 

3.      Matters Arising

3b. H.A. Watton quotation received ? cemetery beds 143.90, replacement trees 434.85. All ordered for Mr. Dawe to plant.

3c.Reserved blocks received and ?planted?. Spares in Cllr White?s garage.

4a. All plots taken at Deweys Lane including grassed over plots. 1 ½ left at Bell Street.

5b. change of rules amended by full council as councillors felt rules needed tightening rather than amending also mention of specific items not allowed would mean we would be unable to deal  with any other items found.

6a.Quoted at 680.40. Ordered for planting.

7a. Wreaths have been removed

7b. Approved by full council. Wilts Contractors to provide quotation from drawing supplied.

7c. If Mr Dawe would like to carry out re-painting Wilts Contractors will not quote against him.

9-1 Dog signs purchased

9-5 Incorporated in new rules supplied by clerk.

9-6 Clerk will use safe in Memorial Hall for burial register and keep working copy at home.

 

4.      Allotments

With all plots taken at Deweys Lane and only 1 ½ remaining at Bell Street, we need to consider bring the spare land at Bell Street back into cultivation. This committee proposes that if demand stays at current level for next month a list will be formed and at the next meeting decision will be made to arrange cultivation of spare land. Otherwise decision will be deferred until September/October. To this end plot 32 at Bell Street will be left vacant to facilitate tractor  access,

Leaving only ½ plot to let.

5.      Cemetery

a.       The clerk had provided revised Table of Parochial Fees as our fees should be adjusted in line.

For parishioners burial should increase from £145 to £152, remembrance garden ashes from £60 to £76

For non parishioners burial should increase from £275 to £300 and ashes from £125 to £140

b.      Please instruct Mr Dawe to dispose of all tributes built up over Christmas period, except those in headstones.

 

 

6.      Jubilee Garden

 

No further business

 

7.      War Memorial

 

a.       No further business

 

 

 

 

 

8.      Rose garden

 

a.        Mr. Dawe has grass seed to sow when appropriate to cover removal  of conifer

b.      Works order to Mr. Dawe to remove wallflowers when finished flowering and dig over beds ready for summer planting.

c.       Castledown School expect to be able to help will planting in War Memorial and Rose Garden again this year.

 

9.      Risk Assessment

           Risk assessments for War Memorial completed this month. We found that the Parish Council has a

           very low risk in virtually every category and is  already carrying out good practices.

 

10.   IT

11.  Finance

            The Clerk provided figures showing that this committee still has the following amounts  in it?s budget

          Allotments - £1396

          Cemetery    -  £1390

          Garden  -        £1307 including donations and grants received this year.

          Any unspent amounts to be carried forward to next year.

12.  Any other business

      None

         

There being no further business the meeting closed at 8.25pm.
