Rolvenden's new Village Hall
|
Welcome to the web site for Rolvenden, Kent
The village of Rolvenden dates from at least Saxon times. The Parish of Rolvenden comprises the ward of Rolvenden (known locally as "The Streyte"), and its smaller, younger sibling Rolvenden Layne. It is about ten square miles in area, given largely to farming and related rural activities, with a growing number of professional, craft, trade and tourist services. It is located astride the A28, Ashford to Hastings main road, three miles south of Tenterden. It is roughly equidistant from the main centres of Tunbridge Wells, Maidstone, Ashford and Hastings but the nearest main railway line is at Headcorn, 25 minutes drive away. It lies within the jurisdiction of Ashford Borough Council, and is also within both the High Weald AONB and the South Kent Development Area.
