Leighton Angling Society has a stretch of the River Severn from Cressage bridge downstream to Buildwas; about 6 miles of prime Salmon, Barbel, Chub and Pike water. The Society runs a series of 10 Summer League matches and this season weights have been very good and topped out at 71 Lbs, with many 60 and 50 Lbs weights also being recorded. Salmon catches this year have been impressive with more than 18 fish being caught and topped by a 23 pounder! The biggest Pike taken this season was 18 Lbs, but reports of larger fish being lost abound. Membership of the Society is open to all, but has a limit of 225 members and costs £46 (Full), £23 (OAP), £20 (Student) and £15 (Junior under 16). Some memberships are now available.
