Trellech has many spelling variations.

These include Trellech, Trelech, Treleck, Trelleck, Tryleg, Trileg, Trillec and Trelegg.

The translations include Three Stones, Stone Town, Homestead of Stone but there is no agreement on the meaning of the name (see Jeanne Dauncey, Letters in Monmouthshire Beacon August 1989)
