YOU ARE INVITED TO THE
ANNUAL TOWN MEETING
TUESDAY 28th MARCH at 7.00 p.m
at The INSTITUTE
This will include the launch of our Centenary Plans in which we desperately need some help from YOU to celebrate the 100th Birthday in April next year of the parish of Woburn Sands. Thanks for your calls about our possible oldest ?local? resident in Woburn Sands?anyone beat 97 yrs?
This meeting will be followed at approximately 8.15 p.m by a presentation on:
MARKET TOWNS HEALTH CHECK
FOR WOBURN SANDS.
This is YOUR opportunity to get involved in how you see the future of your community develop AND retain its best features. So join us for this even if you can?t manage to come to the whole meeting, please.
Hogsty End Handbook
You?ve probably received 2 copies now of the above which is a commercial enterprise. We are discussing the possibility of putting our Town Council news into it rather than producing this quarterly leaflet, so if by chance you have NOT had Hogsty End Handbook delivered, please ring 281336 to let the producer know.
Nampak Permission Granted
Wimpey were finally given permission to build 280 units on the former Plysu/Nampak site by Development Control in February. Thanks to all our efforts and those of Ward Councillor David Hopkins, a large number of conditions are attached to the development including works to improve the highway in that part of Station Road, noise mitigation measures, contamination safeguards, landscaping plans, use of renewable energy sources and recyclable materials in the construction of buildings, and provision of SIDS and VAS in suitable locations to attempt some traffic calming.
The details of the planning gain package have also to be determined and we will be closely involved in the plans for the refurbishment of the Social Club as a more up to date and flexible Community Hall and facility for all the residents of Woburn Sands to enjoy.
If you are interested in one of the ?local homes for local people? within the affordable homes on site, please register as soon as possible with Milton Keynes Council.
Celebrate England?s Day, a day early!
St George?s Day is 23rd April and the flags will be out in the High Street again. Fulbrook School are holding a coffee morning in the Institute, 10am to noon on Saturday 22nd April with an English theme. There will be performances of a St George and the Dragon pageant and ?English? songs from the choir for you to enjoy while you have a drink. So come on, celebrate being English, and pop in to join us.
And Spring Clean on St George?s Day itself?
Following our successful clean up last year, a venture being copied in several other Milton Keynes Parishes, we?ll be meeting up again this year on Sunday 23rd April at 9am outside the Memorial Hall and will concentrate our efforts on clearing litter from the more public parts of Woburn Sands. So please join us with good thick gloves and sturdy shoes.

And New Shops in the Planning Stages
Two applications for a change of use from A1 (retail) to A3 (serving food and drink) are being considered for the High Street.
Plans are still under discussion with Milton Keynes Planning Department for the conversion of Bikers Den (formerly Weatherheads) to an Oriental Restaurant with two flats above. Once a few problems have been solved it should be going before Development Control this month or next.
Already submitted are plans for a Wine Bar in the premises between Haskells Jewellers and Gibson Andrews, ironmongers. This is, however, within the area of the High Street where conversions from A1 usage are not recommended in the Local Plan, so a very strong case for the change of use will be needed.
New Woburn Sands & Aspley Heath Local History Website
This new website was launched on 26th February; it?s full of fascinating local things, pictures of old postcards contrasted with today?s picture. The web site will be continually updated and designed by Paul Cox.
