The Lion, The Witch & the Wardrobe

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

To succeed in presenting such a complicated work as The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe with a cast of children ? 50 in all ? would be triumph enough, but to do so with two different casts is a triumph indeed and Jane George, director, is to be congratulated for giving us two most enjoyable versions of the production.  Some clever settings, especially the innovation of the moving back-drop conquered the limitation of the small stage and the animal costumes and masks, so essential for this show, were impressive.  The lion costume, made especially for this production, received a spontaneous applause on his entrance.  Once again, the music was in the capable hands of Penny Dudson and the children all looked as though they really enjoyed singing the tuneful numbers.  In fact, we had the impression that the young people not only benefited from being in a well disciplined show but also thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  This was a remarkable achievement for such a small community.
