School News Feb 07
Happy New Year!
The end of last term was busy as usual for the school. We not only held the traditional Nativity play in the church, but we also put on a production of The Tempest in the Village Hall which was sold out. Money raised from these has been sent to the Nursery with which we have a link in Cochabamba in Bolivia. We said farewell to the Foundation stage teacher Abigail Stacey who gave birth to a baby boy early in January. We welcome Miss Charleii Stanley as her replacement. We also had the Christmas Fair which raised money for school funds.
Despite all the upheaval we have suffered over the last year, Marsh Baldon Primary School moved from a classification of Satisfactory to good, in an overall appraisal of the school's performance at the end of last term. In Special Educational Needs provision, we are now recognised as Outstanding.
Last term and this, we have been running a programme to demonstrate possible futures to the older children. We have had a variety of members of the local community visit and explain, in an entertaining fashion, what they do. This has ranged from doctors and scientists to motor bike manufacturers and guitar players and our thanks to all involved. We plan to continue this programme, so if you feel like volunteering please don't hesitate to contact us.
This term we will be experimenting with new forms of drop off and pick up to alleviate congestion at the start and finish of the school day. We will let you know how they went upon their completion. This is part of a wider travel plan the school is working on with the LEA.
We must apologise for the mini quagmire that has appeared in front of the school. We had been promised by the LEA that this would be repaired once fire refurbishments had finished. We are chasing them for further action. Another disappointment from the LEA is that the start of building the new Hall has been delayed until the end of March. We were notified of this on the last day of term. We will keep you updated of developments.
