From the Parish Council Feb 07
Signage in the Village
The Parish Council have again had a meeting with a representative of the Highways Dept to review signage on our roads and some further changes are proposed.
Following a suggestion made to the Parish Council and subsequent discussion with the Highways Dept. it is hoped to try and alter the road marking at the junction of Baldon Lane and Nuneham Courtenay. The change will involve the marking of two exit lanes from Baldon Lane with the aim of reducing queuing for cars turning left. It is hoped that this will go some way to resolving problems at peak times of day, but it will have the consequence of narrowing the entry to Baldon Lane from Nuneham Courtenay. Once the work has been agreed and completed we will need feedback to monitor the advantages or problems that are created. The ‘Marsh Baldon' village sign which was damaged and left lying in Baldon Lane will also be replaced.
The ‘Children Playground' sign near the gate, which the Highways dept now recognise wasn't quite appropriate, will also be replaced with something indicating ‘Pedestrians' and ‘Slow' marked on the road. We have also raised concerns that the new finger directional sign to the villages on the B 480 is not very visible and our Highways representative will take this up with SODC who were responsible for its installation. Date of next meeting Tuesday 13th march.
