Welcome to Marsh Baldon

From the Parish Council Nov 2007

The Green Belt

Villagers will be concerned at the increasing publicity being given in the local press to ‘the inevitability' of development in the green belt off Grenoble Road.  As Elizabeth Gillespie pointed out last month this is not a foregone conclusion; the proposal is not supported by   the County Council and SODC.  There will be a period of consultation in the New Year following publication of the Government response to the EIP report when arguments and objections can again be made.

The leader of SODC Ann Ducker has written to all Parish Councils affected by the proposals indicating the Districts intention to fight the plans.

In the meantime .....

The Green Belt Network, a voluntary group representing the interests of villages in protecting the Green Belt around Oxford are to hold their AGM on November 19th @ 7.30pm in Marsh Baldon Village Hall

This will be an open meeting when representatives for other Parish Councils and local villagers are invited to attend. The business meeting we are told will be short. The main purpose being to discuss ideas and arguments for fighting the government's proposals for a review of the Green Belt and consequent housing development when they are published in the New Year

Village Maintenance.

In the September edition we asked for help with a small number of jobs around the village for which there has been a slow response.

The Parish Council does its best to maintain the village for the benefit of everyone but some small jobs do not justify bringing in a contractor. We do appreciate all the help we are given and if you can spare a bit of time let us know.  Ring Barbara on 343276.

Date of next Parish Council meeting:    13th November  7.30pm. Village Hall.
