Marsh Baldon School News

We would like to thank everyone who supported us at the Christmas Fayre in December. The event raised over a thousand pounds which the PFA will

use for the benefit of the children. The pupils themselves raised £300 for Cochabamba Nursery in Bolivia from the sale of tickets for their

production of "Cinders".

This year's trip to the pantomime was to "Aladdin" at the Oxford Playhouse. Staff and pupils had a most enjoyable time. The children also went to the village hall before Christmas to sing carols with the senior citizens. It was hard to tell whether young or old enjoyed it more. They

will be singing together again just before Easter.

At the end of last term we said goodbye to Miss Charleii Stanley, who had been covering Mrs Abi Stacey's maternity leave. This term we have been joined by Miss Louise Stewart as Class 1's permanent teacher, since Mrs Stacey is not returning. Miss Stewart is supported by a new teaching assistant, Mrs Lucy Baker. They have already sent an introductory letter to parents to introduce themselves and held a very successful tea party so that parents could come and meet them.

We are pleased that work has started at last on the building of our new school hall, in spite of the weather being so unhelpful. The contractors are very conscious of relations with the local community and we have another meeting of the neighbours group at the end of January to ensure that there are no unresolved problems.
