MARSH BALDON SCHOOL NEWS

At the end of last term, we held the opening of our outdoor area that is outside Class

1 and fronts onto the green. The turnout was excellent and the sun shone making it an

extremely enjoyable occasion. There were plenty of refreshments on hand the

opening was mainly to thank those people who had given up their own time to help

develop the area.

Another busy term beckons here for us at school and we start by welcoming Ms Paula

Roberts to our staff. Paula will be taking up a full time teaching assistant position at

the school and I know everyone will make her welcome.

This term the whole school will be basing their work around the topic of ‘The

Adventurers'. Hopefully the weather will be good enough for the children to have a

few adventures of their own.

We already have visits planned from the RNLI, the Blue Cross and A-Life Healthy

Workshops.

Also, our tag rugby and netball teams are taking part in the district tournaments.

SCHOOL COUNCIL

The school council have plans for two major events this summer. Firstly a Bring and

Buy Sale, and then a Sponsored Walk towards the end of term.

WALK TO SCHOOL WEEK

National Walk to School Week 2009 will be from the 18th to 22nd May and the

theme is "Walk 'n' Talk" as we want to highlight the social side of walking to school.

Walk to school Week asks parents, pupils and teachers to think about their journey to

and from school and the many benefits of making it on foot. For pupils who live close

to school this can mean switching from the car to other means such as cycling,

scooting or walking. There is also of course our very successful ‘Walking Bus'.

This is another initiative to help alleviate the problems with cars outside the school.

100 CLUB

The first winner of our 100 club was Rob Rogers. This fund raising idea is run by the

PFA and we still have numbers available at just £12 for the year! Please contact the

school office if you would like to join.

This time of year is perfect for the children to be outside and we hope to use the local

environment as much as possible in our work.

If you see us around the village, please stop and say hello.
