BALDON EVENTS COMMITTEE

The Lunch on the Green

Lunch on the Green was a resounding success this year thanks in part to the weather

deciding to play ball. As before many many thanks to all of those that helped whether

it be with the marquees, preparing and/or serving the food and drinks. Without this

help we could not hope to put on this or other similar events on behalf of the whole

community. If there are any others who can volunteer it will be much appreciated on

the premise that many hands make light work. Can you note in your diaries for next

year that the Lunch on the Green will be on June 26 and we are very likely to be over

subscribed as we were this year. Therefore book your tickets early!

Hopefully you will have heard the Church Bells pealing at the beginning of the

Lunch, BEC would like to thank the church for its assistance with this element and

we were very happy to cover the cost of the repair and servicing of all 5 bells. It is

hoped that now that they are fully functional that they can be rung on a regular basis.

Baldon Feast

If you attended the Baldon Feast you will have seen the latest acquisition by BEC of

a pop up gazebo/marquee. This will make it much easier for us to erect and save time.

It will also be invaluable for the Lunch to house the band next year.

The Baldons Ball

The Baldons Ball is now coming together rapidly using the theme of James Bond.

Come attired as your favourite James Bond character - possibly more tricky for the

girls than the boys. The theme will be carried through the night starting with Vodka

Martinis on arrival and dancing to The Bridge Band. At time of going to press there

were only 12 tickets left and thus we expect this event to be a sell-out. At the end of

the evening Sean at the Seven Stars will stay open for a Ball Breakfast, at this point

we should also thank Sean for his help by offering to do all of the canapés. Also

thanks to the others in the village who are helping with the catering, decor, staffing

etc. It promises to be a great night. We will need volunteers to help set up on

Saturday morning from 9.00 am to set the tables and afterwards the decor. Any

volunteers please email chris@dedicatedwines.com.

We are also finalising the risk assessment for the Fireworks and Funfair which will

be November 7th this year. Similar format to previous years and hopefully it will stay

dry.
