New Home for Clock Workings
BLUECOAT CLOCK WORKINGS MOVED TO A NEW SITE Back in January 2008 Barnstaple Town Council considered the possibility of re-siting the Bluecoats Grammar School Clock Workings. At the time the clock workings were situated in a small spaced area in the anteroom at the Guildhall, Butchers Row. The Council wanted to find a more suitable site for this heritage item to be appreciated by all of the community. After public consultation it was decided that the heritage item would be moved, on loan, to the Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon.

Miss N Lewis (Community Development Clerk) said, "It's a fantastic site for such a heritage item and it will give many members of the public a chance to view the clock workings." The delicate mechanisms and casings were moved from the Guildhall to the Museum on Thursday 26th June 2008 courtesy of Banburys Removals.

The clock workings were restored and cleaned in 1984.
