Beaford's Home Page Welcome to Devon's Parish of Beaford Twixt the Moors - an open invitation to all country lovers. Beaford certainly enjoys many adbvantags from its situation between Exmoor and Dartmoor, principally feelings of control and openness Its pretty colour washed homes besride the main road from Torrington/Bideford to Winkleigh/Crediton. So Beaord has easy access to urban excitements and stimulations or can turn the page to rural pleasures. Farming is the mainstay of the village providing a livelihood supporting trades and the beautiful riverside ecological reserve. Beaford has a church and a chapel, a junior school and a garage, an hotel for visitors and celebrations: all work well and weave the tapestry of village life. There are various seasonal festivities and the modern village hall is at the centre of activity, hosting clubs, sports, drama and music. There is a thriving cricket club and the Beaford Arts centre is a shire-wide charitable trust for educational courses and lighter entertainment. Beaford shares with neighbouring Dolton the honour of twinnings with communitites in Germany and France . The moors may dictate Beaford's weather but they also give a base for a quality of life unchanged over many, many years.
