The Parish of Bratton Fleming, situated on the fringes of Exmoor, rises steeply from 70 metres to an exposed 320 metres. The prevailing moist south-westerly winds and many springs ensure that gardeners rarely suffer drought. The village, 7 miles east north east from Barnstaple, straddles the snowline and has often been cut off - though of recent years this has occurred less frequently. The countryside is wonderfully varied with farmland, woods, streams, deep valleys, typical Devon hedges and lanes, and a backdrop of the moorlands of Exmoor. This community has its own website through which you can find out about local information and how your local council is working for you.
