Welcome to Buckley Buckley is situated in the east of Flintshire on the range of hills which extends between the valley of the River Alyn and the narrow plain beside the Dee estuary. The highest point is 158m above sea level and the town covers 0.643ha. Buckley is 14.5km west of Chester and 18km north of Wrexham. It is easily accessible by the A55(T), buses between Chester & Mold and the Wrexham ?Wirral railway line. During the 18th century there were 14 potteries and many coal mines active in the town plus numerous brickworks and Buckley brick is today world renowned.With a growing population of just under 17000, Buckley today is a progressive and lively community. The pedestrianised town centre includes a modern shopping precinct, ample free parking, superstores and a variety of small shops able to cater for specialised needs. The new medical centre and convenient doctors surgeries cater for health. Buckley`s heritage of brick and pottery making has now been replaced by a diverse range of enterprises located on five modern industrial estates. A wide range of sporting facilities caters for recreational needs. The town has a sports centre and a new extension with £3m swimming pool is due to open January 2005.There is also a country park, bowling green, tennis courts, fishing, cricket and football clubs together with easy access to nearby golf and other leisure facilities such as the ice rink at Queensferry. The Town Council is located within the attractive civic buildings just off Buckley Cross where some of the local services of Flintshire CC are also provided. The Town Council meets each month (usually the fourth Tuesday) at the Council Chamber starting at 7pm. Notices are published to this effect and the press and public are welcome to attend.
