CANTLEY STAITHE PROJECT

After years of thinking about it the Cantley Staithe Project is going ahead. Things are moving fast and we need your help in writing letters of support.
Cantley Parish Council with the Broads Authority and local volunteers are running a project to develop Cantley Staithe. The major part of the work will be done by Broadland Environmental Services Ltd (BESL) along with their other flood defence work.
The improvements included in this project are:-
landscaping the area and providing seating and picnic tables
providing a floating pontoon giving easy access to extra moorings
providing a slipway for the launching of canoes, dingies and small boats
providing a turning circle for trailers and upgrading the access road making the present site safer and more user friendly
We have the backing of the Sugar Factory who will be allowing use of their land and also supplying labour and materials to help with the construction. We also have the support of the Reedcutter with the use of their access road.
Most of the work to the quay heading and flood bank is due to take place during September/October 2008. That is less than six months away!
All this will obviously cost money. In order to apply for grants we need to demonstrate that the enhancement of the Staithe is for the benefit of the community and that you would wish to use it when completed. We urgently need you to respond to this appeal by writing to us.
We, therefore, need letters of support from anyone likely to use these new facilities or is in favour of improving our village.
If you like fishing, sailing, water skiing, canoeing, or having a picnic while watching the yachts sail by then please write to us.
If you know of any clubs or organisations, especially for young people or the disabled, that may like to use these facilities then please encourage them to write to us. Or give their name and address or phone number to any Parish Councillor and we can approach them.
