    Play facilities in the Village

I represent the people of the village on the parish council and an issue that I consider close to my heart is play facilities for the younger people of this village. At the moment we are discussing a number of options for the sort of things that we can do. I think it is important that when considering these facilities we look to cater for a wide an age range as possible so I am looking for ideas and suggestions not just from parents but from the youngsters of this village too. I would be really grateful if you could post your suggestions on the site and if you can talk to your children, grandchildren, nephews and neices and find out what they would really like and encourage them to come forward and let us know. I would also be interested to hear what you don't want, I think it is important to gauge all opinions and ideas.

Yes Trevor is one of 3 representatives chosen by Easington Village Parish Council to find out what is needed on the swing site on Easington Village Green the other 2 are Alison Huitson and Brian Graham.  There are 9 councillors listed on the council web site and any of those would be pleased to hear your comments.  Originally the swings were located for many years behind Thorpe Road in a lonely site and councillors were greatly concerned as to the children's safety and how they could enjoy themselves in secure surroundings.  After public meetings in the 90's and consulting with a sports group who looked into various sites around the village they selected the Green as the safest place but advised us to move the location over from the original site chosen.  The swings have been popular for families but alas as in many things have been plagued by vandals and needed constant repair.  Originally we had a baby swing and a children's swing but due to Health & Safety had to choose one or the other and decided to go for 2 children's swings but hopefully we will be erecting swings for babies and toddlers in the new play equipment.  So watch that space and see what has been decided!

I was pleased to see things finally happening on the   replacement play facilities on the village green, but appalled when I walked round early one morning whilst walking my dog at the standard of the construction. Very shallow foundations, hand batched dubious concrete, have we had to wait this long for a shoddy job? . Who is monitoring what they are building? . What standards are they building too? . I have 25 years experience in construction and I am disgusted that facilities for children are being built in a jobbing builder way   â€¦feel sad for my grandchild he will not be able to enjoy the new facilities. I value his life too much.

If you have a legitimate complaint please take it to the Bill Day the parish clerk at Seaton Holme he is always there for your comments.  The parish council used recommended work people who have done work for various other councils but if you are not happy we would welcome your opinion in person.
