    Is there life in Wales?

Having just updated out community council site - I wonder is there anyone else out there in Wales who is interested in entering into any discussion topical to Wales.

What's your view on the Welsh Assemby?

    Are they benefitting Wales?

    Hi,

Not being Welsh but English I hope you don't mind if i comment on the assembly. By the way TLC have 164 community councils signed uop in wales. one of my favourites is Garw  www.thelocalchannel.co.uk/garw have a look

As the the Welsh assembly, I attended the assembly building and must say I was impressed by it great building. I think that any government body made up of local people dealing with local issues just has to be a benefit. I think you are well with with the assembly who's interest is Wales. Sure they will not please all the people all the time, but at least you know they are working on what they believe is right for Wales.

In England we have too many levels of government to make an English Assembly effective just imagine;  Central gov - English Assembly - Regional assembly - County council - District Council - Parish Council. You would nver achieve anything. Even without the English assembly we still have 5 level of government in England and that totally ignore Brussels......

     Go Wales...

    Keith

Sut mae, Personally I believe that the Welsh Assembly is a great thing for Wales. Although being at the early stages of political development there seems to be a more of a balance to the distribution of wealth between North & South. The Welsh Assmbly for one thing  has led the redistribution of Welsh NHS health boards from 22 down to 8, which in effect will bring much needed funds to each authority.

    Best regards

I think that the Assembly is getting better and people in Wales are certainly benefiting from certain decisions being made there as opposed to in Westminster.  As it matures and gains more powers I’m sure we will really see it come into its own. At least they seem willing to help out small communities in Wales as local and community councils seem hopeless.  Check out this story in my hometown of Newport - Assembly backs stricken plot holders

Not all the facts are there, but the community council is unwilling/unable to stand up for local residents and as a result the city council are refusing to do anything – what a laughable situation. So now the Assembly has stepped in!

Would be interested to hear if anything similar has happened anywhere else and what would happen in this situation in England?
