As a resident of New Road I am concerned at the speed at which cars pass along the Worthing Road past the entrance of New Road.
This is founded on the fact that within the last year I have had the unpleasant experience of witnessing a number of incidents related to speed. Some of these have been serious and have involved the attendance of the air ambulance and others just as bad but fortunately without serious physical injury.
It happens mainly in the evenings where cars approach the bend from the south or speed down Worthing Road from the north too fast. Personally, we recently lost our cat to a speeding motorist but asisde from that just trying to join the main road is a gamble in itself.
I would like to raise the question of speed restrictors or some form of pinch point being situated along this stretch or a continuation of the same from the road further down. It will not be long before I have to attend a fatal incident involving somebody from Southwater itself.
What does it take to slow down a little - does it mean 6 lives have to be lost before sense prevails?
Why can't a speed camera be erected along this stretch of road or do we have to have traffic monitors there in the evening. I am not a killjoy but it may be somebody reading this that I one day have to scrape off the road.
What do people think?
