TRAGEDY FOR PAWS & CLAWS

Fighting to keep her business afloat with a big sign on the shutters is local woman Linda Bailey after a burst water main 11 weeks ago caused dreadful damage to her shop Paws and Claws in Easington Colliery and adjoining premises.  There was structural damage to three businesses as a big hole appeared in the pavement and adjoining road.

The front section of Paws and Claws a pet shop has had to be pulled down leaving the rear of the premises to carry out trading.

At present Linda is welcoming clients to her now non-existent shop but is using her back storage areas for those who can get near and are still supporting her.  The post office next door is also closed with structural damage and there's a lot more work to be done before they will be back to business as usual.

The main street in Seaside Lane is barricaded off and customers have to go up the back lanes to reach the side door.  Linda is selling her pet food range but is struggling to keep going and as yet there is no final date for completion as some work has to be redone.  She says a big thank you to all those loyal people who still come to keep the business going.
