East Dean is at the western edge of the Test Valley in Hampshire. It lies along the valley of the river Dun, astride the railway line from Salisbury to Southampton. There are some 82 dwellings and about 220 inhabitants. The tiny parish church of St Winfrid is by far the oldest building the village. On its site there has been a place of worship for over 1000 years. The present building shows signs of the changes that have occurred over the centuries. The congregation is small but energetic, and there is an ongoing programme of improvement and repairs. The Local Channel coordinator for East Dean is Phil Stone and the chairman of the Parish Council is Richard Newton. Please contact either of them if you are interested in adding something to the site. It is free!
