New Household Amenity and Recycling Centres are now open.

The county borough now has four civic amenity sites. These are shown on the map below.

Locations for new civic amenity sites

Household amenity and recycling centres

The opening times for the Household Amenity Sites and Recycling Centres at Davies (Bros) Waste, Tythegston, Heol Ty Gwyn Industrial Estate Maesteg, and Brynmenyn Industrial Estate Brynmenyn are as follows:

1st April to 30th September -

08:30 to 20:00 Hours Monday to Friday

08:30 to 18:00 Saturdays and Sundays

1st October to 31st March -

08:30 to 16:30 seven days per week

The opening times for the Household Amenity Site and Recycling Centre at Penllwyngwent Industrial Estate Ogmore Vale are as follows:

1st April to 30th September -

08:30 to 20:00 Hours Friday & Monday

08:30 to 18:00 Saturdays and Sundays

1st October to 31st March -

08:30 to 16:30 Friday to Monday

The sites are closed on the following days: 25th and 26th December; 1st Jannuary.

All sites take general household waste. There are also separate containers for the following materials to be recycled or composted.

Materials for Recycling/Composting:

Cans (aluminium and steel)

Car batteries

Cardboard

Fluorescent tubes

Fridges and freezers

Gas cylinders

Glass bottles and jars

Green waste including all garden waste

Motor oil

Paper

Rubble

Soil

Scrap metal

Textiles

Waste electrical and electronic items

Wood and furniture

There is also a container for asbestos at Tythegston and Brymenyn. However, you will need to obtain a tipping permit to dispose of this type of waste as explained below.

Tipping permits

The council operates a tipping permit system for householders wishing to dispose of household rubbish at the household amenity sites, using a non-domestic vehicle such as a van. The permit must be obtained before visiting. To get one, contact the Clean up the County helpline on (01656) 643 443. Permits are free of charge and upon request subject to an on-site inspection of the relevant waste.
