BETTWS FOOTPATHS & BRIDLEWAYS
Description of Local Rights of Way BETTWS Footpath No. 1 - Commences on the Urban District boundary at a wicket gate in a hedge 100 yards west of the lodge of Bryngarw House and proceeds north through woodland at the edge of which it crosses a stream by a footbridge. It then proceeds north-west across fields crossing a sunken lane by a footbridge and continues northwards following field boundaries passing through Coed Kensington and alongside a barn to terminate on byway 11 250 yards from Bettws Road - 1,410 yards Footpath No. 5 - Leaves the Bettws - Coytrahen Parish road 35 yards east of the railway bridge at Pont Coytrahen and proceeds north eastalong the fringe of Coed Coytrahen thence north along an overgrown bank west of Ynystylcau House and then north across fields to terminate on path 12 100 yards south-east of an old barn - 870 yards Footpath No. 6 - Leaves the Brynmenyn - Bettws road at the bottom of Llwynyorath and proceeds south-west across fields passing to the rear of Llwynyorath Cottages. It passes through a farmyard and terminates on the Penybryn Coytrahen Parish road with path No. 4 - 753 yards Bridleway No. 7 - Follows farm accommodation road commencing on Bettws Road at the bottom of Llwynyorath Hill and leading through Llwynyorath and Nant Mwth farms to terminate on path No. 5 at the Llynfi River - 707 yards Footpath No. 8 - Leaves path No. 5 at its junction with path No. 4 north-west of Ynystylcau Farm and proceeds north-east to its junction with bridleway No. 7 and thence north to Nant Mwth Fawr Farm where it connects with path No.s 9, 10 and 12 - 290 yards Footpath No. 9 - Commences at the junction of path No.s 8, 10 and 12 at Nant Mwth Fawr Farm and proceeds generaly north-east across fieldsand across the Rectory Drive between house and Bettws Road. Continues atrear of the properties of Bettws Road for 130 yards and terminates in Bettws Road 90 yards south of Bettws Square opposite the Mackworth Arms Public House - 940 yards Footpath No. 10 - Leaves Brynmenyn - Bettws Road and follows the accommodation road to City Farm; it then proceeds generaly west crossing fields and following hedges to Nant Mwth Fawr Farm where it connects with Footpaths 8, 9, & 12 - 770 yards Footpath No. 11 - Leaves the Brynmenyn - Bettws Road 100 yards north of City Ganol Farm and proceeds east over two fields then rather east of north alongside Coedgwylim. Turns east at Cwm Y Pandy and terminates at the Parish boundary at Pandy Bridge over the Afan Garw - 900 yards Footpath No. 12 -
