ENVIRONMENTAL ADVICE
The following advice has been supplied by the Welsh Assembly Government 1. Turn off electrical equipment - if it's on standby it's using power 2. Use low energy light bulbs - it's cheaper in the long term 3. Turn off car engines when stationary - even if it's just for two minutes 4. Walk or cycle - it's good for our health as well as the environment 5. Use public transport 6. Buy local produce - it'll reduce air miles and help support the local economy 7. Volunteer for practical action - maintaining local footpaths or repairing stone walls 8. Follow the country code when about and about in the countryside 9. Install a water butt to collect rainwater to use if you have a garden and use a watering can instead of a hosepipe 10. Wash a full load in washing machines and dishwashers 11. Check the energy rating of any new appliances and buy the most efficient one 12. Use energy efficient light bulbs 13. Get a compost bin and compost your garden and kitchen waste 14. If you have a garden or some space outside, you can put up birdfeeders, birdhouses and birdbaths 15. Pull out weeds instead of using herbicides 16. Plant shrubs and trees which are attractive to wildlife 17. Join a local group and find out more about the wildlife in your area 18. Respect your neighbours - turn down that stereo 19. Don't drop litter - remember chewing gum and cigarette butts are litter too.
