St. David's Church - Pontycymmer

Welcome to St David's church, the foundation stone of which was laid on 29th June 1910, and was opened for worship on 30th May 1911 in the first instance for the Welsh speaking congregation. By November 1916 it was decided that, in order to meet liabilities, English services should also be held. In 1963 when St Theodores closed, the French Pipe Organ was transfered to St David's. The Organ has now been transfered to the University of Wales Church in Cardiff for use of  music students and lecturers, owing to high cost of upkeep. Electric lighting was first introduced into the building in 1964 at a cost of £417, instead of Gas. This Church is now the only Anglican worshipping congregation within the Garw Valley. Service  10.00am every Sunday
