Grassington Parish Council The Councillors are E. Rowley (chair), M. Wynn (vice chair), J. Midgley, B. Robertshaw, G. Arnott, A. Bunney, J. Benson, R. Charlton and P. Fethney. The Clerk of over 30 years is Mrs S. Denby. We meet in the Council Chamber situated at the Grassington Devonshire Institute on the last Thursday of every month at 19.30, the District Councillor is in attendance as our guest whenever his other commitments allow. The Council is responsible for the upkeep of street lighting, 2 playgrounds, 3 parking areas (one above the Devonshire Institute, one below and the on the central area of the cobbled square in the lower part of the village) Townend football field (currently leased to Grassington A.F.C.) and the external maintenance of the Devonshire Institute (leased to the Trustees of The Devonshire Institute). As well as the other things involved with the day-to-day smooth running of a busy Yorkshire Dales village. The Council employs Brian (Bendix) Willson to keep the village free of litter. On the third Sunday of every month a Farmers Market takes place in the lower half of main street on the cobbled square over twenty stallholders are there to tempt the villagers and visitors with a hugely diverse selection of wares from plants and herbs, baked goods to home made pottery.
