Lights out London!
Model, Keeley, from the popular newspaper, The Sun, is not only a pretty face but has been voted the top ten eco-campaigner by the Tories last year. She has urged her readers to turn off their lights for one hour on Thursday 21st June. People were asked to turn off everything between 9 and 10pm! Canary Wharf's skyscrapers and Buckingham Palace are amoung some of London's buildings that turned off! Keeley says "If we work together we can massively reduce climate change . It takes very little to be green"! The 'Lights Out London' campaign is hoped to save 750 megawatts of electricity which is enough to run 3,000 TV's for a year! Sydney did the same campaign back in March and Power use fell by 10%! Celebrities such as Sophie Ellis Bextor and Danise Van Outen give their full support to be more Green in todays society. We shouldn't have to need models and celebrities to anounce big, commercial campaigns in order for us to be more green. We all live on the same planet and we should take it upon ourselves to be green because we simply want to be! SWITCH OFF!! E-mail your comments too: emma.cox@thelocalchannel.co.uk
