First records show that a committee meeting of the Hever Cottage Gardening Society was held on 6^th August, 1901. Presumably the society folded during the Great War and there is no record of any activity during the twenties and thirties. However, by 1948, the Hever Horticultural Society had risen from the ashes and today consists of local people who love their gardens, enjoy getting together for monthly meetings with talks on gardens and flowers and, for many members, competing each year in the spring, summer and rose shows, though this is not obligatory!
