Parish Survey 2008
The Parish Council is where you can raise local issues
that concern you. If we can deal with them, we will.
If not, we can take things up with Sevenoaks District
Council, Kent County Council, our MP or even
Government Ministers. We are also actively engaged
in the many consultation exercises conducted by
Government where they are looking for local views.
Sadly, we don't have a magic wand and our powers are
very limited. But what we can do is deal with, lobby,
or advise higher authorities on a wide variety of local
matters which includes:
- grants towards the cost of community projects
- roads, footpaths, rights of way and bridlepaths
- signposts and traffic signs
- provision of off-street parking
- provision of seats and shelters at bus stops and
other public places
- cleansing of ponds, ditches and drains
- outdoor recreational facilities
- provision and development of community facilities
- and then there's planning...
...the Parish Council is notified of all planning
applications and sends its comments on these to
Sevenoaks District Council prior to a decision being
taken. Where appropriate, we will join in any planning
appeal and argue the local case.
So how can we help? Is there anything you would like us
to look at? We currently have a budget of £7,500 a year or
to put it simply £5.36 of your Annual Council Tax is paid
to the Parish Council. This may have to increase slightly if
we decide on any new projects, would you object?
