Train to be a tourist guide
Do you enjoy living in the South East? Do you enjoy living in the South East? Do you love learning about its countryside, history and traditions? Do you speak another language fluently? Do you enjoy showing people your area? Yes to ANY of these? Would you like to be paid for doing it? What does it involve? As a professional guide, you would work throughout the region. Lead walking tours, show visitors round castles, gardens and museums and tour by coach. The work is fun, varied and interesting; in fact, no two days are the same! How do I qualify? A training programme has been set up to bring new blood to the South East to exploit its rich history. . This is especially timely with the 2012 Olympics. The Guild of Registered Tourist Guides want to train would-be guides to get a blue badge - the highest award in the UK for tourist guides. When can I start? Starting in Spring, 2010 and finishing in early Spring, 2011 the programme runs over 3 terms. It is part-time with training on Saturdays and some Wednesdays. The programme will be based in and around 3 centres - Brighton, Canterbury and Medway/Weald How do I apply?
